Meet John Cassinelli
John Cassinelli is proud to call Lyon County home and wants to do his part to protect our rural way of life. As a fifth-generation Northern Nevadan, 30-year resident of Dayton and local businessman, John knows first-hand that Lyon County is unique and needs strong leadership as the region grows.
Deep Roots - John, a fifth-generation Nevadan, and his wife, Jacqueline, have been residents of Dayton for over 30 years and have two adult children, Dustin and Samantha. John is a graduate of Carson High School and attended Western Nevada College. John enjoys spending time outdoors on his hobby farm, as well as enjoying Northern Nevada's open spaces for sport fishing, hunting, camping, and rafting.
Proven Businessman - John is no stranger to hard work. He joined the family landscaping and construction business in 1984, starting as a laborer and eventually working to the position of Foreman, and for nearly 30 years has served as President/CEO of Cassinelli Landscaping & Construction Inc., founded in Carson City in 1975. John has completed many notable projects throughout Northern Nevada and employs 10-30 seasonal staff. Under John's leadership, the Company is entering its 49th year in business.
Lyon County Leadership - Working in the construction industry, John knows first-hand the importance of protecting Lyon County's community identities. He has served as a Lyon County Planning Commissioner for four years, where he was instrumental in developing the current Master Plan, and refining Lyon County's Title 15 development code. John also served as Vice Chair of the Dayton Regional Advisory Council, and he is currently a Commissioner for the Comstock Historic District and President of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Industry Advocate - John is a Nevada State Licensed Contractor and holds numerous industry certifications. He has been a member of the Nevada Builders Alliance since 1995, serving on the Board of Directors since 1999 and as Board President in 2003. John was recognized as Builder of the Year in 2013 and has won numerous awards including Best Large Commercial and Best Municipality Project of 2002 by Nevada Landscape Association, Outdoor Living Contractor of the Year in 2015, and selected top Landscaper in Carson City 6 times.
Community Volunteer - Community is important to John, and he has supported numerous local organizations for more than 30 years. John is the current President of the Board of Directors for the Mason Valley Boys & Girls Club and has previously served as an assistant coach and sponsor of Silverada Little League, a former AYSO Referee, and friend of the Dayton Valley. Library. He also volunteers with Dayton Township Kiwanis Club and served as Vice President. He is a long-time supporter of the Future Farmers of America, member of the Nevada FarmBureau. John is a passionate supporter of the 2nd Amendment and Nevada's hunting and fishing heritage. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, Life Member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, North American Hunting/Fishing Clubs, Dayton Valley Ducks Unlimited, and member of the Mule Deer Foundation.
Conservative Republican - As a Conservative Republican, John will be an advocate for responsible government that protects the rights of the citizens of Lyon County. John is a member of the Republican National Committee, the Nevada Republican Party, and has served as a former member of the Lyon County Republican Central Committee. He has been Delegate for Lyon County in three Presidential elections.
